Christie’s Oct.2 auction will feature a collection of antique and vintage photographs “from the collection of a prominent American family,” as the catalog states. Highlights from the 395 image lot include an incredible Paul Outerbridge, a book case personally owned by Edward Curtis, a vintage print of Walker Evan’s Alabama cotton tenant family, a refreshing selection of lesser-known Diane Arbus images, and a smattering of prints by modernist vanguards Stieglitz, Steichen, Man Ray, and Moholy-Nagy.
Viewing hours at Christie’s gallery at 20 Rockefeller Center will be held during the following times:
